Wilson Police Department Explorers Post 557

The Wilson Police Department’s Explorer Program is one of our most extensive youth development programs.  Our explorers are a group of young people who are dedicated to public service and are a vital part of the Wilson Police Department.  Our Explorers apply to be a part of the program and once approved meet every Tuesday evenings from 5:30 pm until 8:00pm at the Wilson Police Department.  Our Explorers program is run by officers within our department, giving them a chance to mentor and help develop them into responsible and disciplined youth.

Explorers Post 557 is a charter under the Scouts BSA organization.  Through this program the youth are exposed to Law Enforcement training, giving them an opportunity to see what Law Enforcement life is all about.  But even if a youth has no aspirations to be in law enforcement we feel our program can benefit those dedicated and responsible youth who want to be better disciplined or interested in other areas of community service, law affiliated professions or public service of any kind. The Wilson Police Department Explorers Post 557 has graduated multiple Explorers that are currently hired in law enforcement careers along with multiple graduates who became employees within the Wilson Police Department.
