The Wilson Police Department SWAT Camp was established in 2016. SWAT Camp creates a fun and safe environment for youth to push themselves both mentally and physically. The camp includes physical fitness tests and obstacle courses (age appropriate) to mock the try out and training SWAT operators endure. SWAT operators create scenarios where youth must think outside the box, work together, and work to achieve a common goal. WPD SWAT Team demonstrates the use of their equipment (i.e. vests, helmets, less lethal equipment, etc.). The team’s tactical medics conduct a hands on lesson for the kids; including a medical helicopter demonstration.
